Methodology & Classification
PAC Classification
Political Action Committees are classified by analyzing committee names and connected organization names for industry-specific keywords. Each PAC may be assigned to multiple sectors with confidence scores ranging from 0.70 to 1.00.
Bill Classification
Bills are classified by analyzing titles and full text for industry keywords. Relevance scores indicate how strongly a bill relates to each sector, with higher scores indicating more keyword matches and occurrences.
What This Shows
This analysis reveals thematic connections between PACs and legislation. It does NOT indicate that specific PACs directly influenced specific bills, but rather shows which industries are active in both political fundraising and legislative topics.
Data Quality
37.9% of PACs have been classified into at least one industry sector. 246.0% of Wyoming bills with full text have been classified. Classifications are updated as new data is imported.
